Strict action if banned parties attempt protests: Press Secretary

Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Shafiqul Alam, has warned that any attempt by banned political parties or terrorist organizations to hold protests will be met with the full force of the law.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook account on Monday morning, Shafiqul wrote that the government would not allow any recurrence of past political violence or street unrest.
“If banned political parties or terrorist organizations try to protest in any way, the law will use its maximum force,” he said.
Referring to the political turmoil of October 28, 2006, Shafiqul accused elements of the Bangladesh Awami League (BAL) and its allies of attempting to recreate similar chaos.
“They are imagining—killing dozens of people in the afternoon, sending thousands of terrorists to the center of Dhaka, and occupying the streets. Sorry, this is the new Bangladesh now,” he wrote.
Calling for restraint, Shafiqul cautioned opposition elements against testing the resolve of those he described as the “July revolutionaries.”
“Do not test the patience of the July revolutionaries and remember—this is not October 28, 2006. This is July—the eternal July,” he added.
Shafiqul Alam’s post, which he shared publicly on Facebook, underscores the government’s firm stance against any unrest or unauthorized political mobilization by banned groups.
